Blog 60

Its still better than having the Zionists back, if anybody can remember those days.

So I’ve still been going round the comedy circuit and Anthony I’m sorry I missed you on Wednesday I’ll call in again when I’m passing, its been a fascinating experience, I was actually at the Comedy Store when Michael Macintyre came and did 15mins .  Also at some point I’m going to put my live album Cak here on MP3 as somebody was asking, also I did a radio show with Richard Herring on Sunday and he said him and Stewart Lee had bought the rights of their TV show off the BBC and were going to put it out themselves, I wonder if I could do the same with “Merrygoround” and “The All New Alexei Sayle Show” I might look into that.

And twitter I should look into that, and getting a new jacket, I should look into that too.

Blog 60a.

Hi Mark.  No there doesn't seem to be a way apart from taking them down as soon as we notice.  She was coming from internet cafes in Tokyo and now a T-Mobile site in Liverpool so she gets around.

Michael Macintyre.  Hmmm, well the audience were very excited that he was there but after that he didn't go down any better than any other act on the bill which is sort of strange considering how popular he is.  I remember when Robin Williams used to come down to the Comic Strip club there was this sense of a huge talent standing in front of you and he would do these performances that would blow the whole room away and there certainly was no feeling like that, still he was friendly enough in the dressing room.

I should point out this isn't a full return to standup, I'm just mc'ing the shows at the Soho theatre and the show at the Bloomsbury on the 19th of December to try out new material and a different style of delivery and see how it goes.

If you want to hear me back in the old days the Cak album is now available on the Links page along with the Fish People.

You said Zionists...uh-oh, that'll bring them back!
Pretty good idea, by the way "Alexei Sayle Looks Into"

Yes, very nice of you to pop by. We are honoured by your visitation... re lee & herring and the rights - according to chortle cost them £45,000!?

Superb news! - I was laughing so much last night watching Alexei Sayle's Stuff - this and The Day Today are my favourite comedy videos.
Please start twittering - I think it would be a perfect vehicle to spew out topical stuff, you'd love it - connecting with people too. Cheers Alexei thanks for all the years of laughter :)

Get Cak and the DVD's out. Twitter and the jacket can wait.

You didn't tell us what you thought of MacIntyre's 15 mins, Alexei?

November 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEwen

Would be very happy to see the Cak MP3 on the blog and I hope you can get a hold of the rights to the shows. I would purchase DVDs right away! Twitter is not all Kim Kardashian jokes, worth looking into!

15 mins of Macintyre sounds like a check up at the dentists, maybe he is better live than the TV performances.

Thanks Angela 18, your post cured my insomnia. Perhaps you should approach Michael Macintyre to see if he needs another scriptwriter.

Shaun.

@alexeisayle is taken on Twitter (you're too late, again..) but it seems the owner is some guy in NZ who only tweeted twice on Sept 30 so he might give it to you. @alexeisayledotme looks silly.

Evelyn! You're obsessed with Alexei joining Twitter! :-)

According to the websites, Fist of Fun is crammed with extras including new commentaries and studio rushes. If DVDs of The All New Alexei Sayle Show & Merry Go Round are released (or in whatever media), can I put my hand up for including new commentaries as well please?

And what about a podcast? It'll go nicely with your new jacket...

PS. "Alexei Sayle Looks Into" made me laugh out loud.

"And what about a podcast?"

Indeed maybe you dont need physical DVDs any more at all these days and could put it online in a monetised way somehow like they managed to do with audiobooks...?
Or is that still science fiction? Anyway...
I've thought of a name for such an invention - it could be called
"Alexei Sayle On Demand"...?

Yes, ...commentaries would be fun if you could get people to do them...

Don’t listen to Alexei Sayle alone. We suggest…

“The Alexei Sayle”
•10 oz. Blood
•10 oz. Monster Energy Drink
Combine in shaker and strain into cocktail glass. Serve.

@Mark G, I tried it and it's great! Had to use vodka instead of blood due to some logistical issues, but still. Thanks!

Is there a way of blocking 'those' messages? Those specific ones, any road.

November 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMark G

Angela, everytime you post a message, Alexei puts spiders in your brains. Did you know that?

November 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEvelyn

Does anyone think Alexei's look has been stolen by Peter Gabriel?

xx

November 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJay

I noticed that by taking the messages down - my comments on the previous blogs just look like I've rubbished your website... Sorry about that.

I just Googled images of Peter Gabriel... It's uncanny. Like a less avuncular Alexei. Particularly the one where he's pointing at his eyebrow.

The only comedian I've seen live who has blown me away like that is Johnny Vegas. I think a lot of comedians come across as being too polished. What? No-one cares? Oh. Get me an Alexei Sayle on the rocks... No ice.

November 16, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRussell

The "Blown away" list is short, but contains, in order, Jerry Sadowitz, Chris Lynam, hon-mention for Ian Cognito who followed CLynam one time he'd played the best set I'd seen him do, and was also brilliant.

Also, Billy Connolly, the one time I saw him: He'd not done stand-up for 5 years at least, first night on tour, had done 2 hours when he took a sneak peek at his watch then realised he'd over-run by 30 mins already. Shame was, the next time I saw him on TV he was back to "mmm, alright" rather than 'bursting with stories'

Oh yeah, and Alexei, of course. Saw him twice, first time at the Reading Students union with the Comic Strip tour, second time on his own at the Hexagon (excerpt: "OK, Impression time: Who is this? (puts glasses on)" (Audience person: "Bertold Brecht?") "Oh, alright, you saw me down the students union, right?"...

Hello regulars, just posting to say my Google alerts went a bit mad with updates of Alexei returning to stand-up, here's the links if you are interested, but they are all really saying the same thing.

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2011-11-15/alexei-sayle-to-return-to-stand-up-comedy

http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2011/11/15/14320/alexei_sayle_to_return_to_stand-up

http://www.stereoboard.com/content/view/168917/9

All have some good pictures, especially the stereoboard site, looks like Alexei's gearing up to rip into something very political and very fascist :) Will let you know the FB page reaction tomorrow!

xx

PS. You never see Alexei and Peter Gabriel in the same room, do you?....
